THE SPRINGBOARD PROGRAM
The Springboard Program is an award-winning 3-month personal development
program specifically for women who are not in senior executive roles
(for example, APS 1-6, personal assistants, administrative staff,
sales and marketing staff, etc.). Developed by the BBC to retain
and assist valuable employees, it has won the Lady Platt Award for
innovative Equal Opportunities Training and the National Training
Award (UK) for quality and excellence in training. Springboard was
introduced in Australia in 1993. Only licensed trainers may run
the program.
The participants attend one day of training a month over a three-month period. The training includes identifying strengths and goals, learning personal skills such as communication and assertiveness, networking and presentation skills.
Participants are provided with a 300-page workbook which guides
them through the process of personal development. The third Australian
edition was reprinted in 2001. Chapters in the workbook include:

Ms Bonnie McKenzie who is the director of her own marketing company,
Pivot Person Marketing Pty Ltd and its subsidiary, Mentor Projects
Centres of Australia. She is an organisational and clinical psychologist
who has worked in a variety of corporate roles and has been a senior
consultant to Citibank, Ernst & Young, IBM and Tower Life Australia,
among others. Her book, Friends in High Places”, based on
Australian research, is a recognised business text in executive
mentoring. Bonnie is highly experienced in executive coaching with
managers. She has been a licensed Springboard presenter since it
was first introduced in Australia in 1993 and has trained over two
thousand women throughout Australia.
Bonnie McKenzie is a licensed Springboard trainer, psychologist
and a specialist in career development and mentoring. She has worked
with over 1300 women in Springboard programs and trained over 500
mentors. Her book Friends In High Places is a comprehensive
guide to mentoring and for installing mentoring programs in organisations.
